On Friday, the City of Harare published the names of some companies and organisations that are reported to owe the local authority money for rates. This comes as the total arrears owed to the council have gone over $700 million. The local authority said:
The city is owed over $700 million by various debtors. These organisations and other debtors should come with payment plans, failure which legal action that includes surrendering them to our debt collectors will be taken.
From now on, we will publish the list of debtors as efforts to recover what council is owed.
FeedbackSome of the entities which were published on Friday include:
- Dawn Properties
- Meikles Hotel
- Anglican Church
- Celebration Church
- Seventh Day Adventist Church
