Schools To Close Earlier As Term Is Shortened To 11 Weeks
Government has shortened the first school to term to just 11 weeks because of the Easter Holidays which start on March 30. Schools opened on 9 January and will close on March 28.
Speaking to The Chronicle, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango said the decision to close schools early will not affect students who are sitting for exams this year. Said Utete-Masango:
We have not yet really looked into that ans we will advise but at the moment I had not checked when Easter is starting. The other issue is that election dates are yet be announced.
FeedbackUsually parents send pupils who are writing November examinations to extra classes but Government has maintained that it is illegal to offer extra lessons for a fee.
