Critical Shortage Of Blood Type O

National Blood Services of Zimbabwe (NBSZ) chief executive officer Lucy Marowa revealed Zimbabwe has limited supplies of blood type O.

Said Marowa:

Around 50% of the population is blood type O. So this naturally puts a strain on supplies. The situation is quite critical.

She explained that at times hospitals place 100% orders for blood group O only which accelerates depletion in the limited stocks. She appealed to blood group O donors who to donate so that NBSZ replenishes the stocks.
