There Is Noone Who Is Above The Party: Webster Shamu Warns Mugabe
Webster Shamu has warned former president Robert Mugabe that there is no one who is above Zanu-PF and more important than the revolution. This comes after Mugabe’s recent attacks on his successor President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who he calls illegitimate. Said Shamu
There are laid down procedures for choosing leaders in the party and Government. There is no individual who is above the revolution as incidents before and after Independence show. The Nhari-Badza rebellion and the issue of Ndabaningi Sithole were cases in point.
If we have someone today questioning President Mnangagwa’s legitimacy, they are doing so outside the dictates of the party.
FeedbackIronically, Shamu used to be one of Mugabe’s biggest praise singers and once described the former president as “Cremora”, a powdered milk brand. He later went on to add that even Mugabe’s grandson, Simbanashe is also “Cremora.” Speaking in Chinhoyi last year, Shamu said,
President Mugabe is Cremora Yes, Bona’s son is Cremora
