Police Called In After Thousands Of Job Seekers Overwhelm Terracotta In Bulawayo
Thousands of desperate jobseekers showed up seeking employment at the site of the proposed Egodini Mall in Bulawayo on Monday. The numbers were so great that Terracotta Private Limited, the company which won the tender to construct the mall called in the police for help in controlling the crowd. The police dispatched mounted officers as well as officers from the canine section. The company invited prospective job seekers to register their interest and seemed not to have anticipated such a high turnout. The police ended up suspending the distribution of forms in an effort to control the crowd.
