Mnangagwa Warns Zanu-PF Members Against Issuing Statements
Addressing Zanu-PF party’s Central Committee yesterday, President Mnangagwa warned members against issuing statements.
He said members should know their mandate. Mnangagwa’s statements come at a time when Zanu-PF heavyweights Obert Mpofu and Simon Khaya Moyo said that Ncube had neglected to consult them and said he should realise that the party was supreme in all matters. The criticism of Ncube by Zanu-PF senior members was perceived by some as a sign of discord between the party and Government. Said Mnangagwa:
I exhort party members to desist from indulging in showcasing utterances which prop up personal glory or image. Let us be wary of putting the party into disrepute or discord. We should have one mouthpiece of the party and one mouthpiece of the Government. You find Cdes pronouncing issues of policies which even me as the President is not aware of. It is not acceptable. Let us keep our mandates. If you keep your mandate, unogara, ugogara uyinechigaro chako.
