UN Agencies Meet Govt Officials To Prepare For Looming Famine
The United Nations (UN) on Tuesday revealed that the Agency’s Chief, Bishow Parajuli met with Zimbabwean Deputy Chief Secretary to President and Cabinet Mupamhanga, Government Ministries, UN Agencies and donors as well as Non-governmental organisations in Harare.
The meeting was held to prepare for looming food shortages due to the El Nino-induced drought. In a statement released on Twitter, the UN in Zimbabwe said:
Multi-stakeholders consultation underway to effectively respond to a looming humanitarian situation in Zimbabwe. Co-chaired by UN Chief Bishow Parajuli and Deputy Chief Secretary to President and Cabinet Mupamhanga, the meeting brings together Government Ministries, UN Agencies, donors, NGOs.
