52 000 Vaccinated Against Typhoid

More than 52 000people  have undergone typhoid vaccination. The people’s ages range from six months to 48 years. The move makes Zimbabwe the first country in Africa to embark on mass typhoid vaccination.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health and Child Care revealed that the programme is successfully kicked off and was running smoothly.

The mass typhoid vaccination commenced on Monday and is set to be completed on July 4.

The Director of Epidemiology and Disease Control in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Dr Portia Manangazira said:

Second dose (OCV2) phase is being planned for mid-March for Epworth and Chitungwiza while Harare is currently undergoing Typhoid vaccination.
