Top Zimra Official Retires Amid Corruption Allegations
Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) commissioner, revenue assurance and special projects, Charles Jaure has resigned from the revenue collector.
Jaure was suspended by Zimra in September last year after being implicated in a bribery case. Jaure allegedly sought a bribe from a whistleblower who had unearthed irregular financial dealings at NetOne. In an internal correspondence, seen by The Herald, Zimra Commissioner General Faith Mazani advised that Jaure had left the authority “with immediate effect” and his reasons for leaving were personal. Part of the correspondence reads:
I write to advise that Mr Charles Jaure, Commissioner Revenue Assurance and Special Projects has resigned from the authority with immediate effect. He has resigned for personal reasons and the Authority wishes to thank him for the services rendered.Feedback
