Advocate Mudenda And ZESA Holdings In Victoria Falls Land Scandal
Jacob Mudenda, the Speaker of Parliament, is being incriminated in a land issue which also involves ZESA Holdings Pension Fund.
Mudenda is alleged to have acquired a Victoria Falls commercial stand in 2001 which he failed to develop until 2018. When the Victoria Falls Town Council tried to repossess the stand, that is when Mudenda is alleged to have sold the land to ZESA Holdings Pension Fund in 2018.
ZESA Holdings Pension Fund is alleged to have made two transactions totaling US$1 million towards the purchase of the stand. The first US$500 000 is said to have been transferred directly into Mudenda’s account whilst the last US$500 000 was deposited into Victoria Falls Town Council’s account.
It is argued that the amount ZESA Pension Fund was charged for the stand was twice the market price. Moreover, a Zim Morning source revealed that:
ZESA had no plans to purchase any land in Victoria Falls during that period but they were arm twisted by the Speaker to buy the land since he was going to benefit from the transaction.
Sources also said the transaction is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Mudenda was also recently dragged into ZINARA saga by Temba Mliswa, the Norton legislator.
