Museveni Calls Imposition Of Sanctions An Act Of Cowardice
The Guest of Honour at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said that the imposition of sanction on Zimbabwe was a cowardly act.
Speaking in Bulawayo on Friday during the opening ceremony of the ZITF, Museveni said:
I want to condemn the sanctions put on Zimbabwe. This idea of sanctions is cowardly.
FeedbackWhy do you put sanctions, if someone is wrong to leave him to fail by his own mistake? Why do you have to put sanctions? It means you are not sure the person is wrong.
… I want to encourage you (Zimbabwe) that if you are steadfast in the face of challenges, you will prevail. Zimbabwe is a very rich country, I want us to work together so that we develop Zimbabwe.

Uganda’s problem has been exporting unprocessed goods, which has made the country not able to get real value from its products. So we should work towards value adding our products.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s invitation of Museveni was condemned by various local human rights defenders as he is known for his heavy-handedness towards dissent in his homeland.
