"No Presidential Candidate Will Win Without The Rural Vote",- Hopewell Chin'ono Tells MDC

Harvard-trained Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono has told the opposition MDC to start engaging with the rural populace since no Presidential candidate will win an election without the rural vote.

He claims that this would help the opposition in exposing propaganda and falsehood which the ruling party, ZANU-PF has, through State media, been spreading. Chin’ono also said that the ruling party knows that the MDC could win elections if it starts engaging the rural-based electorate. He said that this was the reason why medical supplies donated by a UK based Zimbabwean and MDC Member John Mangange to a hospital in Chiredzi were either thrown out by ZANU-PF MP Farai Musikavanhu. He said:

This has shown the Chiredzi community that ZANUPF is a counterrevolutionary political party that is acting against their interests in pursuit of its own selfish, narrow, parochial and shallow interests against the community’s health care interests and needs.

The journalist claims that Mangange’s donations were an eye opener to the people of Chiredzi who are now aware of the reason why they are in their predicament. He said:

The MDC UK based member, John Mangange, has fully demonstrated to the Chiredzi community that it is not sanctions that are damaging the economy or the health sector, but that it is ZANUPF’s incompetence, corruption, nepotism, mismanagement and in this case, blatant cruelty.
