Gweru Mayor Calls For Removal Of Illegal Food Vendors From CBD
4 years ago
Mayor of the city of Gweru, Councillor Josiah Makombe, has instructed the city council to remove food vendors operating in the central business district, particularly at Kudzanayi long-distance bus terminus.
Cllr Makombe was speaking at a recent full council meeting. He said:
You urgently need to bring sanity in the central business district as illegal vendors have sprouted in the city. My recent tour of the main bus terminus reflected a health time bomb as there are backyard kitchens operating behind vending stalls.
FeedbackI have seen vendors preparing sadza, relish and chips. That cannot be tolerated. You must also remove some vendors who are now operating from bus parking bays such that long-distance buses are no longer getting inside the rank due to space shortage.
The Mayor also bemoaned the state of ablution facilities at Kudzanai. During his visit, he witnessed first hand the deplorable state in which the toilest were.
