Tourism Minister To Spend Another Night In Prison
Tourism Minister, Priscah Mupfumira will spend another night in custody as Acting Chief Magistrate, Munamato Mutevedzi, rolled the matter over to Saturday for determination.
This comes after the State had sought to have her caged for 21 days pending investigation.
Earlier on Friday, the National Prosecuting Authority reportedly said that it was no longer taking her to court on Friday as earlier suggested. The NPA claimed that they had made mistakes on the charge sheet so they are, as a result, going to repeat the whole process again before Tourism Minister Prisca Mupfumira is presented to the court.
Mupfumira was arrested on Thursday over alleged seven counts of corruption and criminal use of office which robbed the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) of money amounting to US$95.
The minister was arrested by a crack team comprising of members of the Military Intelligence Department (MID), Central Investigation Department (CID), Central Intelligence Officers (CIO), Zimbabwe Republic Police law and order and the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) on the instruction of the Zimbabwe Anti -Corruption Commission.
The charge sheet suggests that NSSA was prejudiced of a total of US$115 359 085.83.
