Rural Teachers Castigate "Heartless Mthuli" For His Austerity Measures
The Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has vowed to take the government head-on for the salaries of its members to be raised.
The union castigated Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube for his “heartlessness” in increasing fees on government offered services by up to 500% while refusing to increase civil servants’ salaries. ARTUZ said in a statement:
Heartless Mthuli increase prices of government offered services by up to 500% but vow to avoid wage increases. Civil servants won’t get any significant salary increase if we don’t fight for it.
FeedbackMeanwhile, the union said that it will organise a protest on August 23 dubbed August Pay Day Funeral;
The banning of protests does not apply to Trade Union organised protests. Trade Unions are exempted from POSA regulations of notifying police.
