EX-ZIMRA Officer In Trouble Over Lifestyle Unexpected Of Revenue Officer
Prosecutor General (PG) Kumbirai Hodzi has approached the High Court seeking forfeiture of suspected unlawfully acquired assets and wealth of a former Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) officer, Kennedy Nyatoti.
Hodzi revealed in his application that his investigations revealed that Nyatoti possessed wealth that did not match his earnings as a revenue officer.
Nyatoti whose total earnings for the two years he served at ZIMRA totalled US$44 000 reportedly bought an expensive stand in the upmarket Mabvazuva suburbs and completed to build a world-class house, all worth over US$150 000.
Nyatoti is also alleged to have bought cars for his wife, sister and mother.
A court application by Hodzi concludes that Nyatoti who was a full-time worker at ZIMRA attained his wealth through underhand dealings. Reads the application:

In the course of my daily work, I perused a case file in which Zimra conducted a lifestyle audit on Nyatoti who is Zimra former revenue officer.
I observed that Nyatoti was employed permanently in that capacity on September 20 2016.
As a result of my perusal of the said file, I formulated an opinion that Nyatoti and Chisadza failed to justify the acquisition of both movable and immovable property identified by Zimra as having been acquired by them during the period between 2014 and 2019.
Zimra Loss Control Officer, Blessings Majoni, said that NSSA conducted an audit after receiving a tip-off suggesting that Nyatoti was getting wealth through illegal means.
Majoni added in interviews that were conducted, Nyatoti failed to reveal how he attained his wealth.
