Forensic Audit At NEC Engineering Leads To Ministry Of Labour Bosses Suspension
2 Labour Ministry bosses have been suspended following allegations that they received “irregular” payments from some leaders of National Employment Councils, The Herald reports. The registrar and her deputy suspensions came after a preliminary investigation exposed that NEC Engineering and Iron and Steel Industry lost millions due to irregular payments.
The 2 bosses reportedly received $6 000 and $17 280 each and investigations currently underway will establish if the payments were above board. Labour Minister Sekesai Nzenza confirmed the suspensions:
We have received complaints from the National Employment Councils regarding irregularities in the registration processes.
FeedbackA number of the complaints were anonymous. The ministry has temporarily suspended Mrs Kanyayi and another, while we carry out the necessary investigations into the basis of the complaints
