ZANU PF Councillor Calls For Removal Of MDC Counterparts For Violating Constitution
ZANU PF councillor for Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, Kidwell Mujuru has written a letter to the municipality’s management complaining about alleged unfair treatment by MDC councillors.
Mujuru claims that MDC councillors ganged against him and voted him out of the Bulawayo Business Committee.
In his letter to Bulawayo Mayor, Solomon Mguni, the councillor said that the revocation of his membership was unprocedural hence null and void. He added:
I am aware of a group of councillors from your party (MDC Alliance) who do not want me to serve the people of Bulawayo in the Business Investment Committee just because I am from the Zanu PF party.
The same members moved and seconded each other to remove me from the Business Committee by purporting to ‘correct minutes’ of the meeting of the 4th of September, 2019.
Mujuru called for the removal of the councillors saying that their actions were in violation of Section 278(2) (e) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe hence warranting removal from public office.
Mujuru who was elected in this year’s by-elections is the sole ZANU PF councillor in the MDC Alliance dominated Bulawayo City Council.
