Form 2 Pupil Hangs Self Over Aunt's Stolen US$100

A Form 2 pupil at Maranatha High School in Bulawayo’s Nketa suburb killed himself by hanging on Tuesday after his teachers quizzed him about her aunt’s missing US$100.

Nqobile Lusinga (15) hung from the roof trusses of his bedroom after he used the $100 to buy a cellular phone. The incident was confirmed by Bulawayo police spokesperson Chief Inspector Precious Simango. She said:

On October 29, the deceased’s aunt phoned the deceased’s mother after he was found in possession of money and a cell phone.

The deceased’s mother went to school for verification and found out that her son had stolen cash amounting to US$100 and used it to buy a new phone.

While at the school, Nqobile’s mother ordered him to go home and bring the change he was left with and he never returned to school.
