Another Breakdown At Hwange Power Station Triggers Stage 2 Load Shedding
ZESA Holdings on Monday announced that load shedding was being implemented at Stage 2 due to a technical fault that occurred at Hwange Power Station.
In a statement released on Monday, the power utility advised its customers that the prolonged power cuts will continue until the fault has been addressed. The statement read in part:
Zesa Holdings would like to advise its valued customers countrywide that there was a technical fault at Hwange Power Station this afternoon Monday 11 November 2019, resulting in an increase in load shedding outside the publicised schedule.
FeedbackLoad shedding is now being implemented at Stage 2 until the fault at Hwange has been rectified.
ZESA has over the past several months been implementing load shedding at Stage 1 where consumers go without power for not more than 12 hours but the schedule has been disrupted due to repeated breakdowns at Hwange.
The country’s largest thermal power station has outlived its lifespan resulting in it having consistent breakdowns.
