VP Mohadi Responds To "Zimbabwe Could Lose Aid" Warning By Former USA Ambassador To Zimbabwe

Vice President Kembo Mohadi has said that Zimbabwe will not be moved by the warning made by former United States Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Harry Thomas over alleged abuse of aid and rampant corruption in the country.

Speaking to reporters following a courtesy call by the United Nations resident coordinator Maria do Valle Ribeiro, Mohadi said:

We are not worried about what people say in passing. When the moon rises, the jackals start howling, but does that stop the moon from taking its course? No it doesn’t.

So let the Americans say whatever they want to say, but we are going to continue doing ….

We will continue appealing for assistance where we fall short as the government and we are confident that our partners will support us.

Thomas had said that Zimbabwe risked losing aid as there was the politicisation of aid by “self-centred and corrupt” authorities.

Zimbabwe, which has become a regional donee lately, is facing severe starvation due to the El Nino induced drought and mismanagement of state resources, and several key stakeholders have started donating food to the country.
