"If Old Firms Don’t Close, New Firms Will Never Emerge." Hon Dr Energy Mutodi (PhD)
Deputy Minister of Information, Energy Mutodi has set social media on fire after suggesting that new companies can only be opened in Zimbabwe when old ones close. He said:
If old firms don’t close, new firms will never emerge.
Mutodi was responding to reports suggesting that Bhadella Wholesalers are closing down this Friday, January 24, as a result of the deteriorating state of affairs.
Bhadhella Wholesalers have been in operation for 88 years.
In response to Mutodi’s remarks, social media users suggested that he should not be anywhere close to the office of a Minister.

The minister, however later said, as an afterthought, that the closure of the company was an unfortunate thing to the country. He said:
Thats very unfortunate, My president as usual he is trying very hard everyday to open all those companies but because of the Sanctions brought by MDCA is cousing all this problem. but will look into this issue.
