Millers Seeking Clarification On Pricing Models Before They Start Milling Imported Maize

According to the GMAZ chairman Mr Tafadzwa Musarara, millers are waiting for a clear pricing model from the government for the subsidised mealie meal from imported Maize for them to efficiently operate and ensure enough supplies on the market, The Herald reports.
Speaking to The Herald, Mr Musarara said:
We wrote a letter to the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Ncubeadvising him that we have started receiving deliveries of imported white maize, but we are unable to commence milling as we await a comprehensive review of the current subsidies
FeedbackThe millers are seeking clarifications on pricing models from the miller to the wholesale price, miller to retail price and the quantum of subsidy payment from Government to miller and the period of payment to millers.
Zimbabwe has been hit by a maize meal shortage which has resulted in people queueing for a 10 kg bag of mealie meal.
