WATCH: Huge Crowd At Chigovanyika Shopping Centre In Spite Lockdown
Zimbabwe’s coronavirus lockdown will be in place for seven weeks at least, after President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday announced an extension by a further two weeks.
However, since the lockdown commenced on 30 March, one of the major challenges to its effectiveness has been the existence of queues almost everywhere where it is impossible to observe social distancing.
It has been a common sight to see citizens jostling for mealie meal at supermarkets in long-winding queues.
In the undated video below, people are shown pushing and shoving at Chigovanyika Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza.
It is not clear what attracted the huge crowds to the shopping centre but such multitudes without a doubt, provide a fertile ground for the spread of the coronavirus.
