ED Wants Trial Of Murehwa Boy's Murder Accelerated

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged the judiciary to accelerate the trial of the Murehwa boy who was brutally murdered in his home area last week, New Zimbabwe reports. The President said this as he was addressing a junior cabinet meeting:

My government is gravely concerned with the threats to the well-being of children and youths emanating from various forms of abuse.

We continue to take several measures to give effect to our commitments to end violence against children. I am disturbed by the loss of life of young children as a result of heinous and evil actions for rituals and witchcraft purposes. These cold-hearted acts of murder have no place in our country.

The stakeholders in our criminal justice system must speedily and strongly deal with the perpetrators so that this evil trend is expunged from our society.

7-year-old Tapiwa Makore, the murdered Murehwa boy ‘s body was discovered a day after he went missing by a neighbour who saw his dogs eating young Tapiwa’s remains. Meanwhile, ZRP announced that it arrested one person a herdboy in the area suspected to have been a promised US$1 500 for the gruesome murder by the accomplices who are suspected to have taken away parts of the young lad’s body.
