PICTURE: How Others Are Practising Kufukira/Kunatira

A picture of a person inside a plastic bag inhaling steam laced with Zumbani/Umsuzwane/Lippia Javanica, in a practice known as kunatira/kufukira locally, has made rounds on social media.

The practice has been so popular and is believed to be a way of curing COVID-19 although there is no scientific evidence to back the claim. See the picture below.

Our main worry is that the practice may not be safe and people may end up suffocating in the plastic bag.

Is there any other way of doing it which is safer?
