Several Motions That Might Topple Mwonzora From Power Raised During A Council Meeting - Report

All is reportedly not well in the MDC T camp as several people are seeking the ouster of the party President Douglas Mwonzora, The Standard reports.

According to the publication during last week’s national council meeting, these are some of the motions that were raised by the council members who attended the meeting:

  1. The United States and United Kingdom branches raised motions seeking the December congress that elected Mwonzora to be annulled on the grounds that it had no quorum
  2. Motions were raised for investigations into the alleged missing party funds an issue that is still haunting Mwonzora after being cleared by Khupe in December
  3. Motions were also raised for those implicated in the alleged looting of MDC-T funds to temporarily step down until an audit is carried out.
  4. Motions suggesting that the national council must cooperate with police investigations into the alleged theft were also raised.

The publication however said most motions failed because Mwonzora had more backers that whose aligned to Khupe who had raised the motions in the first place.

Last week the party’s spokesperson said there are people amplifying the alleged fraud case against Mwonzora despite him being cleared by the then President Thokozani Khupe in December.

2 criminal complaints were made against Mwonzora to ZRP one for $300 000 and another one for $6 million and some party members are now saying ZRP is reluctant to press charges against Mwonzora.
