Makore Family To Limit Mourners At Tapiwa's Burial

The family of the 7-year-old boy who was gruesomely murdered in Murewa in September last year has said it will have to limit the number of mourners at the boy’s burial this Saturday in line with COVID-19 protocols.

Tapiwa Makore was murdered by his uncle and namesake Tapiwa Makore (Snr) with the assistance of his herdboy Tafadzwa Shamba for alleged ritual purposes.

Makore (Snr) and Shamba were arrested for the murder and are languishing in prison.

The burial of the boy is likely to attract scores, if not hundreds of mourners, among them villagers and sympathisers.

Tapiwa’s father, Munyaradzi, on Monday told NewsDay that his son’s remains would be collected from Harare on Friday before burial the following morning.

However, Tapiwa’s body will be buried with some of his body parts missing, including the head which could not be found.

Family spokesperson Beaulah Musupayi said they would ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are observed during the burial.

She said the family will try by all means to minimise the number of mourners and they have already secured sanitisers and will make sure that social distancing will be followed.

Burial will begin at 11 AM on Saturday.
