ZANU PF Dangles Mines, Land To Persuade Youths To Vote
The ruling ZANU PF is dangling mines and land to persuade Zimbabwean youths to register to vote ahead of the 2023 elections.
This comes as the general populace has become demotivated to participate in local elections which they say the result is predetermined.
Some, in resonance with the opposition MDC, argue that the ruling party, in connivance with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), has over the years been manipulating elections in favour of ZANU PF.
ZANU PF, however, denies the allegations. In a statement, the ruling party’s secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu who is also the former Minister of Mines and Mining Development said:
Dear Zimbabwean Youth
Usanetseke neNetOne airtime.

_What “Register to Vote” Incentive would you prefer?_
_Retweet = Mining Claim_
_Like = Piece of land_
The post had more likes than tweets at the time this article was written.
Commenting on the statement, some suggested that the move was meant to buy votes from youths and potential beneficiaries.
One James Chitenga said:
_People should just vote for any candidate or party of their choice. All citizens deserve mining claims and land because it’s their heritage, not vote-buying._
Another commentator said:
_Dr Mpofu the land is our birthright regardless of am a registered voter or not. Every Citizen deserves to own a piece of land. Why would you use what is rightful ours to buy the youth to register to vote._
William Zambezi also notified the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) about the post they said is evidence of corruption. Read the report:
Some said while mines and land belonged to Zimbabweans, the ZANU PF considered them party and private property.
