Mamelodi Sundowns Complete Signing Of Divine Lunga
Reports from South Africa suggest that Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of Zimbabwean international and Golden Arrows defender Divine Lunga.
The 26-year-old caught the eye of Masandawana in the just ended season during which he was in impressive form.
Divine Lunga will be linking up with his former mentor Steve Komphela who currently acts as Mamelodi Sundowns’ senior coach.
Lunga has been a standard feature for Golden Arrows since joining them in 2018 and has made 84 appearances for the club while scoring once and assisting four more goals.
He joins the defending DSTV Premiership champions on a three-year deal and will be competing with the likes of Lyle Lakay, Aubrey Modiba and Tebogo Langerman at left-back.
Modiba and Lakay, arguably two of South Africa’s finest wing-backs at the moment, were both used on a rotational basis during the Brazilians’ bumper local and continental schedule.
Some argue that the move might prove unwise for the Zimbabwean international saying he is likely to be benched or loaned.
It remains to be seen whether Langerman will remain at Mamelodi Sundowns next season after seeing limited game-time during the 2020/2021 campaign.
Meanwhile, Sundowns are reportedly interested in resigning another Zimbabwean international, Kuda Mahachi from Super Sport Unted.
