FULL TEXT: ZIMRA Notice On Charging Of Parking Fees In Designated Controlled Areas In USD Or Equivalent

CHARGING OF PARKING FEES IN DESIGNATED CONTROLLED AREAS IN UNITED STATES DOLLARS OR EQUIVALENT

STATUTORY INSTRUMENT 296 OF 2021

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) wishes to advise all cross border transporters that a penalty of US$20.00 will be charged for each hour or part thereof that a vehicle is parked in a controlled area, designated in terms of Statutory Instrument 57 of 2007 and Statutory Instrument 296 of 2021, in excess of three hours, being the maximum permissible parking time, up to a limit of US$200.00

“Controlled area” means the area under the control of the ZIMRA within a port of entry Specified at Beitbridge, Chirundu, Plumtree, Kariba, Forbes, Kazungula, Sango, Nyamapanda, Mpoengs, Pandamatenga, Mt Selinda, Victoria Falls and Maitengwe border posts.

The penalty is levied in United States dollars for all foreign-registered vehicles and shall be paid in foreign currency.

For locally registered vehicles, the penalty may be paid in local currency using the prevailing interbank rate of exchange at the time of payment.

The penalty shall be payable to ZIMRA and for all payments made the transporter shall be issued with a payment receipt.

All stakeholders are encouraged to take advantage of the pre-clearance facility to minimise time spent at the border after the arrival of the vehicle.

For the avoidance of doubt, all trucks still under the customs clearance process by ZIMRA and other government stakeholders will be exempted from paying the penalty
