WATCH: Dr Magombeyi Laments Over Zimbabweans Drowning In Limpopo
A Zimbabwean medical doctor, Peter Magombeyi has said he is no longer feeling okay after watching a video of fellow Zimbabweans drowning in the Limpopo river while trying to cross to South Africa.
Eleven people reportedly drowned recently.
Dozens of Zimbabweans use undesignated entry points as they do not have work permits or passports, yet, the biting economy compels them to attempt the crocodile-infested Limpopo which is usually flooded during the rainy season. Watch the video below for more:
Commenting on the video, Dr Peter Magombeyi who made headlines in 2019 after he had been abducted by suspected state security agents, said:
I am not feeling okay after watching the video of my fellow Zimbabweans drowning and being eaten by crocodiles in Limpopo river in an attempt to cross into SA. We have a CRISIS in Zimbabwe!

His remarks were echoed by prominent journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono who baled the situation on the ruling ZANU PF which he said was ruining the Southern African country’s economy. Chin’ono said:
I wonder how the ZANU-PF regime feels when it watches these videos of Zimbabweans dying trying to cross into South Africa, running away from failed ZANU-PF rule! Your own citizens being eaten alive by crocodiles, and you continue on the ruinous path of looting and plunder! WHY?
Earlier this Thursday, the opposition MDC Alliance blamed the crisis at the Beitbridge border post on the ruling party saying the situation reflected a longstanding governance crisis in the country.
