President Emmerson Mnangagwa has dismissed Douglas Karoro from the office of Deputy Minister of Lands Agriculture, Fisheries Water and Rural Development. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Misheck Sibanda, the chief secretary in the office of the President and Cabinet said Karoro was fired for misconduct. Reads the statement:

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde E D Mnangagwa, in terms of section 340, subsection (1), paragraph (f), as read with section 104, subsection (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, has with immediate effect, removed Honourable Douglas Karoro (MP) from Office of Deputy Minister of Government, for conduct inappropriate for a Deputy Minister.

Karoro has a pending corruption case in which he is accused of diverting Presidential Schemes’ inputs meant for farmers for personal use.

He denies the charges.
