Mazvikadei Dam is a dam at the Mazvikadei Recreational Park in Banket. The dam is the 3rd largest in Zimbabwe.

Background

The dam's construction began in 1985 and the dam was opened in 1988. Mazvikadei dam lies on the Mukwadzi River, in Banket, northwest of Harare. It has a storage capacity of 365 106 m3 and a surface area of 2 300 ha. The dam was constructed mainly to store water for irrigation, but a fishery developed and fish stocks have grown to commercial levels. Annual production from the commercial fishery is approximately 4 tonne. [1]
