2018 – elected to Ward 19 Harare Municipality with 4867 votes, beating Tawanda Chidzidzi of Zanu PF with 1858 votes, Edgar Jaure, independent with 221 votes, Justine Ngwaru, independent with 188 votes, Chati Butao of BZA with 101 votes, Eunice Unnah Chinheya of CODE with 68 votes and Nyasha Chitukutuku of PRC with 41 votes. In the 2023 Harmonised Elections, Kufahakutizwi was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Mabvuku-Tafara National Assembly Constituency. He polled 15 680 votes against ZANU PF candidate Pedzai Sakupwanya who garnered 12 038 votes.

In October 2023, Kufahakutizwi was recalled from Parliament by Sengezo Tshabangu. On 07 November 2023, he successfully filed nomination papers to run for the Mabvuku-Tafara National Assembly Constituency in by-elections slated for 09 December 2023.[2]
