The starting point is what kind f relationship should a government have with its people. It was the issue then and it is the issue now. If the citizens of a country have no channel to be hear legitimately by their government and put to their government what is not working for them, and the government is not receptive to other parties contributing to the solutions that a nation confronts, then you have a problem. Put it another way, I think for a country or a society to thrive, it has to be open to competition of ideas in a healthy way. If you close yourself to competition of ideas within your own society, I think more often than not, you end up in the wrong place. So once you get a get a group of people in any administration who think that they are the wisest of everybody present and they have no reason to listen to anybody's ideas, I would argue that if you go down and look at history more often than not, those societies fail.
