News:Jonathan Moyo Justifies Building New Parliament Regardless Of Economy. Says Zimbabweans Should Be Grateful For Chinese Grant

Higher Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has justified the building of a new parliament building despite the prevailing economic conditions.
While responding to a twitter user who had asked if it was justifiable for government to build a new parliament building in light of the prevailing economic conditions, Moyo said
It's funded by a grant from the People's Republic of China. Zimbabweans should be grateful for the grant & we are!
The government owned Herald reported that Zimbabwe and China had signed an agreement worth $46 million in Beijing, as part of the first tranche of funds for the construction of the new Parliament Building in Mt Hampden. The agreement was signed by Macro Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister Obert Mpofu and Chinese Foreign Minister Mr Wang Yi during a meeting on the follow-up to the implementation of various projects being carried out by the Chinese.The meeting was attended by more than 100 government ministers from African countries and was a follow-up to the Johannesburg summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (Focac) held last year.
Zimbabwe is currently facing acute money shortages with banks such as CABS and POSB of recent, failing to furnish their clients with hard cash. The government through the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has resorted to the issuing of bond notes which are slated for an October release. These have been met with resistance the latest being a march that Tajamuka/Sesjikile Campaign was granted permission to carry out by the High Court. (read more here)
Civil groups are also matching against government's failure to deliver on the two million jobs that the Zanu-PF government promised during the 2013 harmonised elections. (read more here).
