Nkululeko Ncube is a Zimbabwean fashion designer and the owner of Ara Kani who is resident in Johannesburg, South Africa.[1] Ncube goes by UNcube Othungayo on Twitter and has more than 3 400 followers.[2]


Background

Ncube was born in a family of three in Nkayi and grew up in Bulawayo. He attended Njube High School before proceeding to Speciss College.[3]

Design Work

Ncube introduced Rebellious Klothing in 2013, with the fashion line 'The Rebel In Me.' Ncube said:

The brand is for individuals that are daring and have the ability to wear the craziest, unimaginable outfits in everyday situations and gives an opportunity for creative minds to embrace their individuality.[3]

The brand was later named Ara Kani and was was showcased on platforms such as HIFashion at HIFA, Durban Fashion Fair and Intwasa Fashion Show, amongst others. [4]

Ncube represented Zimbabwe at the South Africa’s Menswear Week which was held in Cape Town in 2016. Ncube is managed by Hunnar Management Agency which has managed many talented designers.

Trivia

Ncube was excommunicated from his church, which he refused to name, for allegedly failing to attend a choir session because he had to attend a fashion show.[2]
