Rodgers Matsikidze is a Zimbabwean lawyer. He is the managing partner of Matsikidze & Mucheche Legal Practitioners

Education

He holds a MPhil Law from the University of Zimbabwe, Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the same university as well as a Diploma in Bible Studies and Christian Leadership from Africa Multi-Nation for Christ Colleges (AMFCC).[1]

Career

He is the acting Director, Legal Aid Clinic and Students Attachment Division and also the Legal Proctor of the University of Zimbabwe. He has done a lot of editing in Labour and was the chief editor of the Kempton Makamure Labor Law Lecture Series at the university and Coordinating Editor of Munyaradzi Gwisai’s textbook Labour and Employment Law in Zimbabwe. He is also an appointed arbitrator by the Ministry of Labour Law. He has done a number of training and research for various Non – Governmental Organizations and Trade Unions. Matsikidze also held the position of treasurer for the Zimbabwe Labour Centre. [2]

In 2015, Government rejected his nomination to be chair the National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC) arguing that he had won too many labour cases against government. In an interview with NewsDay, Raymond Majongwe said:

But for Matsikidze, whom we really felt could be of great value in the post, we were told that he is young and he had won too many labour cases against the government.

Notable Cases

He successfully fought for the reinstatement of 409 retrenched Air Zimbabwe workers through his law firm.[4]



Awards

Together with Caleb Mucheche they received the Diamond Eye Award on Excellence and Quality Commitment in 2011.
