Tendai Huchu is a Zimbabwean born author best known for his novels The Hairdresser of Harare and The Maestro, The Magistrate & The Mathematician.
Career
He published his first book The Hairdresser of Harare, in Zimbabwe in 2010 to critical acclaim. His second book, The Maestro, the Magistrate, and the Mathematician was published in 2014.[1] His first book has been translated into German, French, Italian and Spanish. His multigenre short fiction and nonfiction have appeared in The Manchester Review, Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, Gutter, Interzone, AfroSF, Wasafiri, Warscapes, The Africa Report and elsewhere.[2]
His short story The Intervention was shortlisted for the 2014 Caine Prize. He was also one of 2015's Writivism short story judges.[2] In 2013 he received a Hawthornden Fellowship and Sacastar Fellowship. In 2017 his short story The Marriage Plot was nominated for Best Short Story in the NOMMO Awards given by the African Speculative Fiction Society.[3]

His favorite Russian novel is Fyodor Dostoevsky's Demons.
