Details
The accident occured when a commuter omnibus from Harare's high density suburb of Dzivarasekwa rammed into a locomotive train killing 35 people in the spot. Within a week, two more people had died from the injuries bringing the number to 37.[1] The accident was as a result of negligence on the side of the bus driver who is said to have not taken necessary precaution. He is said to have proceeded to cross the railway line without making necessary steps to ensure that the railway line was clear.
