Job Description

Applicants are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant posts that have arisen in the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission.

Reports To: Director Monitoring & Inspections.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop policies and procedures for the Monitoring and Inspections (M&I) Department.
  • Reviews monitoring and inspection reports.
  • Assists the Director in implementing the departmental work plan and coordinating activities.
  • Coordinate training of staff and other stakeholders on the departmental functions.
  • Develop and track implementation of budgets for the department.
  • Track implementation of recommendations from M&I reports.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement meetings.
  • Coordinate Thematic Working Group activities guided by the Director for M&I.
  • Lead teams in the reviewing of manuals and tools for the M&I Department.
  • Consolidate monthly, quarterly and annual reports for M&I Department.
  • Appraise, supervise and offer advice to subordinates.
  • Assist the Director to monitor or review the state's compliance with regional and international treaties and charter-based mechanisms.
  • Facilitate compilation of the Commission's reports to the relevant treaty bodies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of laws (Honours) degree, Social Work or any relevant qualification from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • A relevant Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years' working experience in development and human rights work.
  • Good report writing, oral and written communication skills Proficiency in oral presentations.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability and tenacity to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must be a person of high integrity, professionalism, assertiveness and innovation.
  • A clean class four (4) driver's license.
