Police arrested Centre for Community Development Zimbabwe Advocacy Officer, George Makoni, after he and other Harare residents petitioned Harare Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni over allegations of corruption and abuse of public funds by council management.
More than 100 people entered council premises singing and denouncing management for corruption. They were carrying placards which denounced corruption. Manyenyeni accepted the petition and promised to address the raised concerns.
He however dismissed the corruption allegations being leveled against him and urged residents to be responsible.
