People set to lose jobs as Chinamasa urges Govt to shutdown non performing parastatals
Speaking on Thursady in Parliament during a Question and Answer session, Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa urged Government to shutdown non-performing parastatals. He said that some parastatals had closed a long time ago but were still accruing huge wage bills paying staff that is not doing anything productive.
Said Chinamasa:
The issue arises especially from the railways (National Raliways of Zimbabwe) and anyother parastatal or whether we are talking about Zisco, those companies closed a long time ago but the people remain employed and the unpaid salary bill keeps escalating, even though they are playing tsoro. They have been playing tsoro for 10 years now and yet it is still being accepted that they remain on the payroll.
