Mliswa accuses Tsvangirai for protecting corrupt Norton councillors
On Monday, Norton legislator Temba Mliswa accused MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai of protecting corrupt individuals who were mismanaging Norton town council. Addressing more than 500 residents gathered at the town’s council offices on Monday, Mliswa said:
I am told that MDC-T councillors are going to their leader Morgan Tsvangirai whom they are telling that Mliswa is involving politics in his approach to the Norton Town Council business.
FeedbackThis happening when President Mugabe has on several occasions denounced corruption and me as your MP is also saying no to corruption.
If Tsvangirai is listening to them like what I have heard he is doing, I am saying he shall run (voted out) because we do not need corrupt leaders.
However, MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu dismissed the allegations saying:
The MDC has got a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and President Morgan Tsvangirai is on record firing corrupt councillors in Chitungwiza a few years ago.
Anyone who has got tangible evidence of corruption against any of our councillors should bring it to the attention of the party leadership and you can be assured that tough and appropriate measures will be taken against any offending councillors.
