Pictures: TSF closed after police and tobacco farmers clash
6 years ago
Reliable sources have informed us that the Tobacco Sales Floor was shut down after farmers staged a demonstration where they beat up workers, destroyed property after complaining that banks are giving them $50. Riot police was called in to restore order.
The failure of banks to pay money comes at a time when the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe said that the country has reduced its foreign payments backlog by more than 50 percent to $185 million, largely due to forex flows from ongoing tobacco sales and improved dollar deposits.
