Meikles Holdings donated 500 cars to Zanu-PF, says Mliswa in Parly
Independent legislator to Norton, Temba Mliswa claimed that Meikles Holdings had donated 500 cars to the ruling Zanu-PF party. Mliswa made the claims when he was defending the company during a debate in parliament on Tuesday. This was after the Member of Parliament for Uzumba, Simbaneuta Mudarikwa (Zanu-PF) had accused of Meikles Holdings of being a product of a criminal act which made its money by looting.
Mliswa, came to the co0mpany’s defence saying that it was not proper to talk about the company as it was not there to defend itself. He added
It is not proper to talk about a public listed company. It has 50 000 shareholders and you cannot talk about it because some of us are shareholders and they are not here to defend themselves. Meikles are not here to defend themselves and we cannot talk about the company which is not here to defend itself. It is now a public listed company
FeedbackMliswa went on to say that Mudarikwa was ignorant as he was not aware that Meikles had bought 500 cars for Zanu-PF. Said Mliswa:
Madam Speaker, it is the same company that has given 500 cars to ZANU PF to campaign. Are you not forgetting that and you do not even know who gives you money? Meikles has donated cars to you. You are so ignorant because you do not even know the company that gave you money. It gave ZANU PF 500 cars, why are they not talking about it?
