Masvingo turns to Tokwe-Mukosi for water supply
Masvingo City Council has resolved to use the newly constructed Tokwe Mukosi Dam as its new water source. The city is currently relying on Lake Mutirikwi, which is only 38 percent full despite the heavy rains and flooding which were experienced throughout the country. In December last year, the situation was dire when Muttirikwi was only 4 percent full. The Masvingo Council is going to approach Zinwa for water supplies.
Tokwe-Mukosi is 72km from Masvingo City and is the largest inland dam in Zimbabwe. It was officially commissioned on Thursday by President Robert Mugabe and is already 70 percent full in its first rain season.
