Zanu-PF youth leader stabbed as factions clash over Kasukuwere
Zanu-PF Bulawayo city centre district youth chairperson, Magura Charumbira was stabbed yesterday at Zanu PF Bulawayo provincial headquarters, Davis Hall after a group of party supporters opposed to Saviour Kasukuwere disrupted a provincial co-ordinating committee (PCC) meeting chaired by provincial leader, Dennis Ndlovu, arguing it was unsanctioned. However, Ndlovu said the meeting had been called by Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko.
The protestors were also demanding the reconstitution of the party’s provincial executive, following the resignation of 12 out of 34 youth executive members. Riot police officers later intervened and dispersed the protesters, allowing the PCC meeting to continue. Charumbira said he had reported the stabbing to the police. However, when contacted by NewsDay, police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi could not confirm the protests, saying he was out of office.
