Mphoko is interfering with our operations and we have reported him to President Mugabe complains Zacc
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zaac) has complained that Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko is interfering with its operations and compromising its independence. Zacc chairperson Job Whabira told members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Defence that they have since reported the VP to President Robert Mugabe so that he can deal with the matter.
Said Wabhira
Political interference by Mphoko is among some of those elements that impinge upon the independence of the commission, but these will be resisted, as we forge ahead because the Constitution gives us power to complete investigations without fear or favour.
FeedbackOn VP Mphoko’s issue, what happened is that we (Zacc) took the issue to the President through the chief secretary to the Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda, so that they take action on the interference.
Mphoko is reported to have ordered officers at Rhodesville Police Station to release two Zimbabwe National Roads Administration bosses who had been arrested on corruption charges.
